About the project

The project was co-financed by the European Union through the programme Europe for Citizens (Action 1 – Measure 1.2). The measure supported actions that aimed to establish thematic and long lasting cooperation between municipalities and regions in order to address common issues. The partnership recognized the common need of a more efficient use of energy at local level in addiction to a lack of awareness raising actions and analysis of the specific local realities (climate, infrastructure, legislation, knowledge levels). Go Green Now! addressed different target groups in order to raise awareness on sustainable lifestyles and conscious consumption at multiple levels. Partners founded the involvement of local actors to be the most important aspect as it is tied to the planning and adoption of innovative solutions in terms of policies and technologies; transport; energy efficiency and renewable energy sources at local level in a long term perspective in order to go from awareness raising actions to concrete ones.

Objectives

  1. To create awareness of energy related environmental issues and mobilise action among the event’s target groups;
  2. To understand local realities in different countries;
  3. To increase knowledge of aims, tools and methods for involving local citizens in the planning process in order to go from simple raising awareness actions to concrete ones;
  4. To promote networking among different actors (target groups) at local level and in the European partnership.

Impact

Four thematic meetings have been addressed to approach all the four specific objectives with a similar methodology. On the target groups level, Different activities (such as study visits, seminars, workshops, media events, meetings), have been developed according to the target groups involved, with the following impacts:

  1. En empowerment of the interaction/communication with citizens and improved skills on how to achieve sustainable energy consumption and lifestyles (mainly for politicians, municipal civil servants and educational coordinators)
  2. Increased knowledge from the case studies (from good and bad examples)
  3. Increase in the practice of the use of energy efficiency by adopting concrete actions in municipal structures, schools and companies
  4. The development of innovative local solutions: the project provided active participants with the opportunity to collect information about new solutions coming from other countries and to be applied in their local contexts.
