About the Member

The social co-operative Kara Bobowski is a small non-profit company in the rural area of the Forlì-Cesena district (Emilia Romagna Region). It was created in 1992 by some members of the voluntary association GAD (Parents and Friends of Disabled people). The staff of the co-operative is composed by 50 workers, mostly women.

The co-operative manages several services:

  • a daily and residential centre for people with mental disability (“La Libellula”)
  • a hand-craft workshop for people with social disadvantage/disability (“La Coccinella” www.laboratioriococcinella.it )
  • home and school assistance for children with disability
  • a small kindergarten for babies aged 12-26 months
  • an educative centre for children aged 6-13
  • a community for young minors young minors removed from their family of origin (“ALMA”)
  • a community for disadvantaged mothers and their children (“GAIA)
  • a European office dealing with transnational projects and activities.

The European projects promoted by Kara Bobowski since 1995 or in which we are partners are mainly in these fields

  • European Voluntary Service (now European Solidarity Corps)
  • VET mobility for young people and staff (Kara Bobowski has got the European VET Mobility Chart)
  • KA2 projects in the field of Adult Education

The main areas of interest both in local and European projects are: inclusion of people with special needs and fewer opportunities in all aspects of life (education, work, daily life, etc.), participation and European citizenship, transnational mobility.
