Mjölby Municipality

The municipality of Mjölby has a little over 28,000 residents and in the last 10 years its population has risen by 2,000 as more and more people choose to settle down here, like families with children. Mjölby has been a road and rail hub since the 19th century. Each day almost 30,000 vehicles use Mjölby’s western junction on the E4 motorway. Public transport is excellent. One of Sweden’s most vital rail lines (southern one) serves Mjölby, which is also the starting point for the freight line through Bergslagen. Business is strong and expanding: with over 2,600 companies the number of jobs has leapt up in recent years. Manufacturing is the dominant industry: it is home of Toyota Material Handling Europe and with its 3,000 employees is one of the world’s largest production plants for forklift trucks. Also the leading global manufacturer of farm machinery, Väderstad AB with its 850 employees is located here.
